“C”

14K Gold, Sterling Silver, Copper, Brass, and Amethyst. 2022.

This piece was custom made for a special friend’s teenage daughter. She gave me the term “rainbow-esq” as inspiration and asked if I could include her daughter’s birthstone, an amethyst.

Of course! The rainbow shape came right to me. Now, what shape stone to use? I played around with the stone shape and placement, and ultimately came up with this trillion cut amethyst, not realizing it was one of the more difficult stones to set. I like a challenge! And I love the way this little piece turned out!

“The Heart of Limekiln Lake”

Abalone shell, copper, brass, 18k gold, sterling silver, pine. 2022

This custom wall hanging was designed to represent many memories of a very meaningful campsite.

The organic flow of the copper which depicts the graceful, fluid outline of the lake feels like the ever changing edges of the lake through the seasons. The bright, cosmic waves of colors in the abalone are full of life and vibrance, encompassing where the campsite is. They soften as they reach the gold heart, which shifts like a pendant, never fixed in one spot, just like the love it represents. The oval plaque, dyed a deep blue, represents the richness of deep water.

Spoon with Labradorite

Sterling silver spoon handle, labradorite. 2021.

I had just gotten back from participating in a local art festival and had a few custom orders to start working on. Earlier in the year, I had received some heirloom silverware from a friend of mine who wanted me to use it however I pleased for her and her family. I also had a few labradorites lying around on my bench, just begging to be used. I grabbed a piece of the silverware, started sawing and soldering, and this is what happened!

When the opportunity calls to make something, make it right then! I am happy to say I wear this bracelet quite frequently and have since made another for my friend.

Cora Propellor

18k Gold, Sterling Silver, Yellow Sapphire. L 2 1/4". 2020.

My husband, a pilot by trade, asked me to make him a tie bar for work. I felt the piece had to be aviation related.

I had a few ideas and shapes for the piece bouncing around in my mind, not convinced any of them were the one. One sunny summer afternoon, I had a few moments to sit outside and read, when out of no where, this design just popped into my mind. I know it drives some of you nuts, but it really does happen! I had to refine it a bit and figure out how I was going to fabricate it - all part of the challenge I enjoy.
